Liberian politician Joseph Nyumah Boakai, who was born on November 30, 1944, is the country’s 26th president at the moment. Prior to that, he was Minister of Agriculture from 1983 to 1985 and the 29th Vice President of Liberia under President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf from 2006 to 2018.

During his time as Vice President, Boakai worked closely with President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf on various national issues, including economic development, governance reforms, and post-war reconstruction efforts. He also played a significant role in representing Liberia internationally.

Boakai joined the presidential race in 2017, where George Weah emerged as the victor. However, in the 2023 election, Boakai succeeded in defeating Weah.
