Liberia: A Teenage Girl in Ganta Threatens Suicide Over Relationship Turmoil.
Marthline Dowol, a 16-year-old from Ganta in Nimba County, has expressed intentions of self-harm after her boyfriend conveyed his disinterest in their relationship.
In a statement to police investigators, Dowol revealed her deep affection for her boyfriend and her inability to cope with the prospect of separation. Fortunately, she was intercepted by concerned residents of the City View community and officers from the Liberia National Police as she attempted to take her own life.
During the police inquiry, Marthline refrained from disclosing her boyfriend’s identity, citing concerns for his safety.
